London Baby!

After our week in Cornwall, this week continued to be good! My brother and his wife came to stay for a couple of days which is always fab. We took a trip into Leeds, went out for dinner, went bowling and had a good time.

We were lucky enough to get tickets to the Olympics! We went see the athletics on Friday morning and watched Jessica Ennis winning the Heptathlon hurdles and come 5th in the high jump.

We also saw the 400m womens qualifiers, Men’s 400m hurdles, Steeplechase, Hammer throwing, Shoy-put qualifiers and triple=jump. After it had all finished in the stadium we went to Park Live to watch the big screens. It really was incredible!

We had a great time in London, making the most of being down there, we saw the sites visited Portobello Road market and we love the entertainment on the South Bank and Covent Garden.

Whilst we were there my video was being put together! Check it out!

Sunny Cornwall

This week we’ve been in sunny Cornwall!

We had an amazing week, staying in Newlyn. The house we stayed in was perfect, overlooking the harbour.

Image

I got to visit St. Ives at long last! I’ve always wanted to visit, and it didn’t disappoint. It was beautiful, the sun was out and the beach was perfect!

Image

The boys loved the sea and spent hours running in and out of the water.

Image

We all loved Sennen Cove and The Lizard. We went with Rob’s parents and had a great holiday, a big thank you to them for taking us. 🙂

I bought this card whilst I was there, too nice to send! I will frame it. Its made by Sue Walton. (www.suewalton.co.uk)

Let Summer begin!

I have had a brilliant week!

The best news is I got accepted into the Country Living Fair in Harrogate at the end of November! I’ve been grinning like a Cheshire cat all day! Its a huge investment in both stand fees and making all the products but I can’t wait and I will give it my best shot!

I made the deadline for sending off my Christmas product photos!

Image

I have had a few personalised orders to send out!

Image

The boys have both finished school today and have both had really great teachers. Theo sent a flower brooch to each of them and I made Kieran’s teachers a framed picture each. I know Kieran’s teachers a lot better, I help out in their class every Tuesday morning which I have loved and they are all really lovely!

So now I can stop thinking about Christmas for a while and enjoy the summer!

Christmas Already!

I had an email from Helen who runs From the Wilde (who sell my work!) asking for my Christmas photos this week! The deadline for most major journalists is the end of the month! Gulp! So I have been hurrying along with my designs and will hopefully have a sample of work to send her by the end of next week.

Having hardly started summer it feels wrong preparing for Christmas, but I don’t want to miss out on the publicity so i’m going along with it all!

Also Moo.com (who do the nicest quality cards and stickers) had a 30% sale on so I sent off my card designs on Friday to be printed. I sent off 14 designs and will see which ones turn out the best.

I had a stall at the July Shipley Alternative on Saturday. I always enjoy this event, lots of my friends and regular visitors come down and its a great sociable day with good sales being a bonus, but this time was different! It was disappointingly quiet. I still saw and chatted to a few good friends but numbers were low and sales were really poor. No one really knew why, but its still a shame!

My next event is on the 12th August at East Riddlesdon Hall in Keighley. Its the Family Fun Day, as long as the weather is good it should be a great day.

Sewing on the go!

Still on a countdown to the end of term, I have been stock making like mad!

This is the wedding picture I made for a customer last week, it was a present for her friend.

Image

Lots of pocket mirrors and lavender hearts, knitting bags and broches.

The boys both have lots going on at the moment, it was Theo’s sports day on wednesday afternoon. The sun came out which was a rare sight this week!

Image

It was a long 2 hour sports day and although it was great watching them all, Theo only ran for about 3 minutes of it! So I took a little sewing to keep me entertained!!!! Time is precious!

Image

My friend Carol sent me this photo. She also sent me lots of photos of Theo running, thank you Carol. x

I had a stall at Kieran’s school this week as well. I decided last year that I wouldn’t do school fairs anymore because they are usually more about parents spending loose change on fairy cakes and lucky dips! I did this one because I help out at the school every Tuesday and know lots of the staff and parents so thought it would be a sociable day if nothing else. It turned out to be a successful day though! I had made lots of mirrors and lavender hearts as they are my lower priced items but I ended up selling peg bags, knitting bags and left with a few potential orders to sort. All in all it was a well spent 3 hours! I even had a little helper, Kieran was out, Rob was working, so Theo came with me. He was brilliant, he helped carry all the stuff in and set the table up, he helped sell and pack up! I was really impressed with him.

Image

To end the week, both the boys had their Taekwondo gradings today and earned their next belts. They did really well, they were there for 2 1/2 hours so we nipped down to Costa for a drink and I managed to finish sewing a few Brooches whilst we chatted -child free!

Image

I have a table at the Shipley Alternative Market in Shipley next week, this has always been one of my favourite events, its always a friendly atmosphere and a good mix of stalls and people. So I will restock my peg bags and knitting bags, I may even make some new products ready for Saturday. If your around please come down and see me and all the other stalls there.

Lots of Stock!

Another week, another blog!

Today has been a chilled out day after a busy June! My other half has been taking part in something called Junathon. Everyday in June he had to jog, log and blog! He ran anything from 3 – 10km a day and dutifully logged and blogged it along with lots of other mad people! He did amazing well and despite it being a bit of a childcare juggling act fitting it all in, he managed to run 174km over the month. He had never written a blog before and I think he did a fab job. You can read how he got on over the month here.

The week for me has been mostly building stock for both Hand Made in Bradford, Cakewalk and for future Craft Fairs with a couple of orders thrown in too.

I delivered some more new stock to Hand Made in Bradford this week, I had a custom order for a wedding present which was great to make and sales are still going well. I had a chat to one of the guys who works there about what new products might do well based on customer comments in the shop, so new ideas lined up!

I was also really pleased they had made a ‘Spring Lark’ table.

I also delivered to Cakewalk in Ilkley, the Wedding Collection hasn’t sold at all or had any interest there, so I swapped it all for new stock. The smaller items seem to sell better there, maybe because its a much smaller shop?

Image

Its been another mixed week in the garden, some brilliant sunshine and lots of rain but great to get out of the shed when I can.

Image

I feel like I’m on a countdown now until the end of term. The boys have sports days to watch and school trips, and I need to keep as far ahead as I can before the summer holidays begin!

Sunshine and Showers!

This week has been split down the middle between sewing and admin! I have caught up with all my accounts which is a relief and spent time applying to new craft fairs for later in the year.

I have been accepted to the British Craft Trade Fair next April which is really exciting and a big step forward! I need to make sure everything is spot on with all my product lines, pricing, trade packs, and presentation of my stand – gulp!!! Slightly nervous already!!!

‘From the Wilde’ did a photo shoot a few weeks back and included a great photo of my wedding bunting in their blog.

http://fromthewilde.wordpress.com/2012/06/19/spring-lark-in-wonderland/

They sell all of my wedding collection in their online shop along with loads of other fabulous gifts and will soon have my other personalised gifts too.

I’ve had a great run on personalised hearts this week.

Image

Delivered lots of new stock to Hand Made in Bradford and had a Personalised frame order.

Image

The beginning of the week was beautiful, I sat cutting out fabrics on the hammock in the garden, managed to dry the tent out from last weeks down pour and the kids even went to school in shorts again – yay! On Thursday the heavens opened and we’d have been as well swimming to school!

Cricket was cancelled again and Theo’s first cub camp was rescued by sleeping in the hut! The campsite was flooded so they came back to the hut and caught the train to go bowling and swimming in the next town. The weather improved on Saturday and they managed to sleep in the field at the back for the second night. They had a great time, ate lots of sweets, fish & chips for dinner, and came home looking exhausted but happy!

Image

It was strange sending him off for the weekend, Kieran went for a sleepover at a friends house as well so we were kid-free! We went to our friends 40th party and had a great night, coming in in the early hours of the morning with no babysitter to pay!

Today was Guiseley Carnival so we went down in the sunshine to watch them all go past. Kieran finished the day at a party and once again I will be sending them back to school more tired than they left!!
